Believe and Become Podcast – Episode 6 Recap

So often as Christians, we slip into the mindset that we have to perform for God—that if we just try harder, do more, or act better, then we’ll finally become who He’s called us to be. But Scripture tells us a different story.

In Galatians 3, Paul reminds us that “Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” The answer is simple: it’s by faith. We don’t earn God’s approval by striving harder—we receive His Spirit, His grace, and His power by believing His Word and trusting His promises.

When we begin with belief, our actions flow naturally out of our identity in Christ. But when we begin with actions, burnout and discouragement often follow. True sanctification—being made more like Jesus—starts in the heart, not in our performance.

Just like Abraham, who received God’s promise and declared it daily by calling himself “Abraham, father of many nations,” we too must learn to declare and believe who God says we are. Our beliefs shape our thoughts, our emotions, and our actions.

Top 3 Takeaways

  1. Beliefs > Actions – Transformation doesn’t start with behavior; it begins with what you truly believe about God, yourself, and your identity in Christ.

  2. Faith Is How We Move Forward – We enter the kingdom by faith, and we grow in the kingdom the same way—not through striving, but by receiving.

  3. Declarations Shape Identity – Speaking God’s truth out loud realigns your thoughts and beliefs with heaven and brings lasting transformation.
